The ASRG is formally represented on behalf of the Australian marine industry sector to all relevant Government agencies (including through Government category membership) as follows:
- The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for Domestic Legislation and the International Maritime Organisation, through AMSA representation, for International Legislation.
- AMSA National Safety Committee and previously AMSA Shipping Consultative Forum.
- Australian Institute of Marine Science.
- Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, for port security for port security and other issues, including Maritime Security Identification Cards and other Defence security and similar requirements.
- Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry for issues including introduced marine pests, antifouling, hull cleaning etc through appointment to the Department’s Marine Pest Sectoral Committee and previously the Marina and Slipways Working Group.
- Standards Australia & Joint Standards Australia / Standards New Zealand. ME-059 Shipbuilding Sub-Committee.

- Department of Defence – various, including consultation for the Defence White Paper, procurement, tender processes, port security, COVID-19 etc
- Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.
